“Open Sunday” looks promising when you're trying to find somewhere to roll. Until you open the timetable and discover that the BJJ open mat was on Saturday.
At Cobra Thai in Kharadi, Pune, the difference is explicit: Saturday lists a BJJ open mat from 9–10 AM. Sunday lists general opening hours and ice baths. Those are not the same invitation.
The academy also publishes membership prices, but that doesn't give an outside grappler a one-session rate. Here are the useful details, the gaps, and what to ask before crossing town with your kit.

The schedule separately lists Saturday evening sparring and Sunday opening hours. Neither establishes another guest BJJ open mat.
Start with the Saturday session, then settle admission
Cobra Thai's schedule is unusually helpful about the sport attached to each day. Saturday's grappling entry is specifically labelled BJJ open mat.
That's enough to make it a relevant enquiry. It is not enough to assume that visitors, complete beginners, minors or students from other teams can join without approval.
Tell the academy what you train and ask whether that Saturday's session suits you. Get the gi/no-gi format, guest price, start time and current location pin together. An hour-long slot leaves little room for arriving late and discovering you brought the wrong kit.
If you're looking for instruction, ask for a taught BJJ class instead. A coach being in the building doesn't mean a guest open mat includes a lesson.
What the membership prices do—and don't—tell you
The membership page includes open mat within its full-combat tier, named Cobra Thai Til I Die. Fitness-only access is different.
It lists the combat tier at ₹4,130 for one month, with a note that displayed prices exclude 5% GST. On those published terms, ₹4,130 × 1.05 is ₹4,336.50. Confirm the actual checkout total and inclusions before buying.
That is membership pricing, not a visitor mat fee. Dividing a monthly rate by four Saturdays would produce a made-up drop-in price: the academy hasn't offered that transaction.
The site advertises a free trial, but the checked pages don't establish that it can be used for this open mat. Ask which class the trial covers. Don't assume it replaces the guest quote.
Visiting once versus training every week
For a one-off visit, keep the request narrow: a date, your experience and the rounds you want. If the academy offers a day pass, establish whether it covers just open mat or anything else, and whether advance payment is required.
For regular cross-training, ask whether repeat visitors can continue buying single sessions or need membership. Also ask whether the price changes for a class plus open mat. A clear answer now is better than a different conversation at the desk every Saturday.
If you already hold a fitness membership, confirm the combat access before joining a grappling session. A shared building doesn't mean every plan covers every activity.
Get a useful hour of training
Pick one aim for the visit. You could ask a willing partner to drill a troublesome escape before rolling, or choose a few controlled rounds and take notes afterwards. You don't have to turn every round into a competition simulation.
Introduce yourself to the coach and ask about the room's submission, takedown and pairing rules. Agree intensity with your partner. Tap when you need to; release immediately when they do. Ask before recording anyone.
Clean training clothes and suitable kit are part of being a welcome guest. If you need to borrow or rent anything, arrange it before turning up.
Not sure which format to request? Our gi versus no-gi guide explains the clothing and grip differences. For more local contacts, browse Pune BJJ academies; their directory presence isn't proof of an open-mat slot.
A message for your first visit
Hi, I'm [belt/experience] and train at [academy]. Can an outside guest join your Saturday BJJ open mat on [date]? Is it gi or no-gi, what's the total one-visit fee, and do I need to register in advance? Please confirm the location and arrival time too.
If the academy can't accommodate you, ask about a suitable visitor class. You still get to train, without pretending a membership timetable promised unrestricted access.

Frequently asked questions
When is Cobra Thai's BJJ open mat in Pune?
Its published schedule lists Saturday, 9–10 AM. Confirm the particular date and visitor admission with the academy before travelling.
Does Sunday opening mean there is a Sunday BJJ open mat?
No Sunday BJJ open mat was established by the checked timetable. It lists general opening hours and ice baths separately from Saturday's named BJJ session.
What is the guest open-mat fee?
A numerical one-visit fee was not established. The monthly combat membership is a different product and should not be presented as a drop-in quote.
Can I use a free trial or fitness membership to attend?
Ask the academy. Its full-combat tier explicitly includes open mat, while fitness-only access differs. The free-trial advertising doesn't establish admission to a particular BJJ open mat.
