Good to know

What is capoeira?

Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian practice combining martial movement, dance and music. Players interact in a circle called a roda, with the group contributing music, singing and rhythm.

UNESCO describes the capoeira circle as a cultural practice that can be understood through combat, dance, tradition and art. Music and the group are part of the practice, rather than background to a workout.

Do I need to do flips to start capoeira?

Ask for a beginner class focused on manageable basic movement. You should be able to decline acrobatics or contact you are not ready for. Confirm how the teacher adapts the session before booking.

Where can I find capoeira classes in India?

The starter contacts include Casa de Capoeira in Shahpur Jat, New Delhi, Centre For Capoeira India in Khar West, Mumbai, and The Academy of Capoeira in Mumbai. Check the school’s own website or profile and confirm the current location, teacher and class directly.

Are there capoeira classes in Delhi NCR?

Casa de Capoeira’s own profile lists its school in Shahpur Jat, New Delhi. Current class schedules, fees and trial arrangements still need direct confirmation. We have not substantiated a current regular class in Gurugram or Noida for this section; older workshop announcements do not confirm present availability.

How much do capoeira classes cost?

Fees are not confirmed for these contacts. Ask the school for the trial price, membership period, uniform costs and any event or grading charges before paying.

Before your first capoeira class
  • Ask whether the session is designed for beginners, and how movement, music and partner practice are introduced.
  • Confirm clothing, footwear, contact rules and whether acrobatics can be adapted or declined.
  • Tell the teacher about relevant injuries or limitations. Ask for suitable alternatives before trying unfamiliar movements.
  • Ask who teaches the class, how newcomers are supervised and whether you can watch before joining.
  • Check trial fees, cancellation terms, uniform requirements and additional event or grading charges.

The exact session varies by school. You do not need to commit to flips or contact to enquire about starting.
