You find a Sunday open mat. Pack your gi. Work out the Metro route. Then notice the small detail nobody mentioned: it's for the academy's own students.
That is the awkward part of looking for BJJ open mats in Delhi NCR. The timetable might be public. The invitation might not be.
There are places worth asking. Strength MMA publishes a Sunday slot in West Delhi. Knots & Collar explains both its members' rolling sessions and a separate route for visiting grapplers. The Combat Lab's provider listing describes a day pass covering open mats, although its prices are estimates.
Here's what those sources actually establish, and how to turn a promising listing into a visit. Checked 31 October 2026. All times are IST; no guest booking was made.
Delhi NCR open mats: the useful shortlist
| Academy | What is published | Can an outside grappler attend? | Guest fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strength MMA, Krishna Puri, West Delhi | Sunday open mat, 10 AM–1 PM | Not established by the timetable; ask about BJJ rounds specifically | No numerical open-mat fee found |
| Knots & Collar, Defence Colony | Rolling after weekend Essentials, and Thursday; described as students' open mat | Visitor page welcomes other affiliations through an arranged class, rolling included | No numerical repeat drop-in or gi-rental rate found |
| The Combat Lab on mytribe, Vasant Kunj/Vasant Vihar | Day pass described as covering scheduled classes or open mat | A visitor route is advertised; confirm the actual branch and session | Platform estimate ₹600–₹900/day, not a confirmed quote |
None of these entries establishes a free, unrestricted walk-in BJJ open mat. That doesn't make them closed to visitors. It means permission and the final price need one more conversation.
Strength MMA: a Sunday window in West Delhi
The academy's own website lists Sunday, 10 AM–1 PM, and includes BJJ among its disciplines. Its address is WZ-12, First Floor, Krishna Puri, Outer Ring Road, opposite Vikas Puri Pocket-A.
Contact 7070658585 or 9310475029. Ask whether that Sunday's open mat includes gi or no-gi BJJ, whether non-members can join, and what they pay. A multidisciplinary open mat could involve something other than the rounds you came for.
The site also advertises a free trial arranged with the academy. That is a separate offer; it doesn't establish free Sunday entry.
Knots & Collar: arrange the class, then ask about rolling
At A-269, Second Floor, Defence Colony, the programmes page describes rolling as a session for existing students, rather than a standalone class booking.
Its visitors page supplies the missing route: grapplers from other affiliations can message the desk, explain their training and be placed in a suitable class with rolling included. Gi classes require a white gi; rentals are mentioned, without a published rental price. Contact +91 9717956687.
Ask which class to attend and whether you can stay for that day's rolling. The first-class-free offer should also be checked against your visit; it isn't a permanent guest pass.
The Combat Lab: check the quote and the branch together
The academy's BJJ listing on mytribe describes a one-day pass for a scheduled class or open mat, with an indicative ₹600–₹900/day range. The platform explicitly labels prices as estimates based on past work.
It mentions both Vasant Kunj and Vasant Vihar. Open-mat references across its platform pages vary by day, so we haven't assigned it a recurring weekend slot.
Request a current timetable, branch pin and total day-pass quote in the same message. A reply about membership at one branch won't settle access to an open mat at the other.
What about Noida, Gurugram and the rest of NCR?
This guide covers NCR, but the documented leads above are in Delhi. Our checked sources did not establish a current guest BJJ open-mat slot in Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram or Faridabad. That is a research limit, not a claim that none exist.
If you already train locally, ask your coach about inter-academy sessions before planning a cross-NCR trip. Request the host's announcement and approval, not just a forwarded location pin.
Use Roundhouse's BJJ directory to find academies, then check guest access separately. A BJJ listing is not an open-mat invitation.
Send this before leaving home
Hi, I train BJJ at [academy] and I'm [belt/experience]. May I join on [date]? I'm looking for [gi/no-gi] rounds. Please confirm the branch, start and finish time, total visitor fee, uniform rules and whether I need to book or complete any forms.
If you want drilling rather than live rounds, say that. If you have never trained, ask for an introductory class instead of quietly hoping someone will teach you during open mat.
On arrival, introduce yourself to the person running the session. Agree the rules and intensity with each partner, respect a declined round, tap rather than fight through a submission, and stop immediately when a partner taps. Ask before filming or including anyone in a post.
You don't need to make a guest appearance memorable. Leave people happy to train with you again.

Frequently asked questions
Are BJJ open mats in Delhi NCR free?
We haven't established a free guest open mat from these checked sources. The Combat Lab's platform gives an estimated day-pass range; the other entries require a direct quote. A free first class does not mean repeat open-mat entry is free.
Can I visit another academy without changing affiliation?
Knots & Collar explicitly welcomes visitors from other affiliations through an arranged class. Elsewhere, ask the host before attending. Introducing yourself as a visitor does not require pretending to be a member.
Is an open mat a good first BJJ lesson?
If you have no grappling experience, request a coached introductory class. An open mat may offer practice without a structured lesson; ask the coach what beginners can actually do before booking.
Should I bring a gi or no-gi kit?
Get the format from the host for your date. Knots & Collar specifies white gis for gi classes. For the differences in clothing and grips, read our gi versus no-gi guide.
