A pool can be close to home and still be useless to you if its women's hour clashes with work. Before comparing memberships, find out whether you can actually make the reserved session.

Mumbai has several published routes: a separate ladies-pool timetable at PM Bath, a 4–5 PM ladies-only listing at Matunga Gymkhana, and women’s batches at Chembur and Goregaon recorded in BMC’s 2025 yearbook. They don't all offer the same admission route.

Sources checked 27 October 2026. The table separates live operator-page listings from dated municipal information. None is a reservation or confirmation that a particular session is running today.

Mumbai women-only swimming: where to enquire

PoolPublished women’s timingWhat to establish before paying
PM Bath, Girgaon ChowpattyLadies pool: Monday–Saturday 6:30 AM–12:30 PM and 4–8 PM; Sunday morning to 1 PMAdmission category, pool subscription and actual visit duration; holiday hours differ
Matunga GymkhanaLadies only: 4–5 PMWhether this applies on your day, including weekends/holidays, and whether you qualify for entry
General Arunkumar Vaidya Pool, Chembur EastBMC 2025 yearbook: Tuesday–Sunday, 11 AM–noon and 5–6 PMCurrent timetable, membership category and available places
Prabodhan/Ozone Pool, GoregaonBMC 2025 yearbook: special women’s batch 3–4 PM; Monday maintenance closureWhether the batch still runs and how admission/coaching works now

This is a shortlist of documented options, not a ranking or a claim that these are Mumbai's only women-only sessions.

PM Bath: a ladies pool with broader published hours

The Pransukhlal Mafatlal Hindu Swimming Bath & Boat Club Trust is on Netaji Subhash Road at Girgaon Chowpatty, Charni Road West. Its ladies-pool page publishes morning and evening opening windows, rather than just a single reserved hour.

That makes it worth an enquiry if afternoon club sessions don't fit your day. Opening hours still don't tell you how long one entry lasts, whether new admissions are available or whether a visitor can buy a one-off swim.

The subscription page displays a ₹2,600 female yearly total in its 16–65 age section. Treat that as a listed subscription category, not the all-in price of joining and learning to swim. Ask about admission charges, any separate swimming/coaching fees and whether that tariff applies to you.

The page also lists special holiday hours. Get the timetable for your actual date, particularly around holidays, rather than planning from the normal weekday window.

Matunga Gymkhana: ask about the weekend wording

Matunga Gymkhana's swimming page gives 4–5 PM under “Ladies Only”. It separately prints broader Saturday/Sunday/holiday hours without explaining how that reserved hour operates within them.

Don't resolve that ambiguity by guessing. Ask the swimming department whether the women-only hour runs on the day you want and which membership, dependent or guest category is eligible.

A club publishing a pool timetable does not establish public walk-in access. Get the admission answer first; a convenient hour is little use if you can't book it.

Chembur and Goregaon: useful BMC leads, with a dated source

The BMC 2025 English yearbook, printed page 169, is the source for the two municipal rows above. Chembur's General Arunkumar Vaidya Pool is described as adjacent to the M/West ward office; the Goregaon entry is named Prabodhan/Ozone.

A yearbook is useful evidence that a batch was documented. It isn't a live availability screen. Ask the specific pool for its latest schedule before choosing a membership, especially if the evening Chembur hour is the reason you're joining.

The yearbook directs municipal swimming membership applications to BMC's swimming portal. We haven't completed a registration or checked availability behind login. Confirm which pool and batch the offered membership actually covers before paying.

We haven't established a current municipal fee for these particular sessions. Don't apply a club tariff to a BMC pool, or assume a women's membership category permits every general and reserved batch.

Kandivli Recreation Club: an older listing to check directly

Kandivli Recreation Club, in Kandivali West, publishes a 3:30–5:30 PM ladies-only window under swimming with coaching for Tuesday–Saturday and Sunday/bank holidays.

That schedule is labelled effective from August 2018 and still carries a pandemic-era qualification. The club itself asks readers to contact its office for the latest timings. Keep it as an enquiry lead, rather than treating the old two-hour window as a confirmed current session.

Ask whether the current offer is a coached batch or independent swimming, what access category is needed and whether teaching takes place throughout that window.

Choose the admission route before comparing prices

For a one-off swim, ask explicitly for visitor or guest entry. For a regular routine, ask for the complete joining cost and what happens when your preferred batch is full.

Your situationThe question that matters
You want to try onceIs a single visit sold, and does it cover the women’s session?
You know a club memberCan that member bring you, and must she accompany you?
You want lessonsIs a beginner place available in the reserved batch, with coaching included?
You already swim lengthsIs independent lap swimming permitted during that hour?
You work normal office hoursWhich early, evening or weekend women’s session can you actually attend?

Don't compare an annual subscription with a coached monthly package as if they buy the same thing. Request the total payable for your first month, including entry, membership, instruction and applicable taxes.

Women-only swimmers, staff and children are separate questions

A reserved batch tells you something about swimmer eligibility. It doesn't establish female-only staff, an empty viewing area or an adults-only pool.

Ask whether children can enter, who can wait poolside, whether other lanes remain in use and what the photography policy is. If you need a female instructor, request that specifically before buying lessons.

These are booking questions, not privacy arrangements Roundhouse has inspected. Read the operator's swimwear rules as well; a costume accepted at one venue may not be accepted at another.

A message to send the pool

Hi, I'd like to swim at [pool] on [day/date] during the women’s session. Is [published time] still running? I'm a [member/non-member] and need [lessons/independent swimming]. Please confirm eligibility, children and poolside access, actual swimming time, total charges and any closure or booking requirements.

Start with the session you can keep attending. Then compare the admission cost and teaching arrangements. Buying the cheapest pass won't help if its reserved hour is one you can never use.

For other cities, see our guides to Delhi, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. You can also browse the pool directory for more leads.

For warm-water options, read Mumbai’s heated-pool guest-access guide. A club’s member-guest arrangement is different from public admission.

Frequently asked questions

Where can women swim in a reserved session in Mumbai?

PM Bath publishes a ladies-pool timetable and Matunga Gymkhana lists a 4–5 PM ladies-only hour. BMC's 2025 yearbook also records women’s batches at Chembur and Prabodhan/Ozone in Goregaon. Confirm current operation and admission before travelling.

Does PM Bath's listed yearly subscription include everything?

The published subscription category alone doesn't establish the complete joining or coaching cost. Ask for all charges and eligibility before treating it as the price of a swimming package.

Can I walk into Matunga Gymkhana for the ladies-only hour?

The swimming timetable doesn't establish unrestricted visitor admission. Ask the club which membership or guest route applies and whether the reserved hour runs on your chosen day.

Are the Chembur and Goregaon timings confirmed for today?

No. They are documented in BMC's 2025 yearbook, not checked through a live booking or pool call. Request the latest pool-specific notice.

Is Kandivli Recreation Club's published timetable current?

The page retains an August 2018 effective date and pandemic-era wording. The club asks people to contact its office for current timings, so it is an enquiry lead in this guide.

Does a ladies-only batch mean female staff and no children?

Not necessarily. Confirm child admission, instructors, lifeguards, spectators and changing arrangements separately. The timetable alone doesn't answer those questions.
